Burien sits on the west side of the airport, between SR-509 and SR-518. The freight here is airport-adjacent and local, and the roads are tighter than the traffic deserves.
Two highways and a lot of arterials
SR-509 and SR-518 carry the through traffic, and 1st Avenue South, Ambaum and 148th carry everything else. None of it has much room for a stopped truck. Burien breakdowns tend to happen on arterials with parked cars and driveways, which means clearing the unit is usually step one.
Local fleets more than long haul
Burien's truck population is mostly working vehicles: delivery, food service, construction and landscaping, waste and utility, plus airport-adjacent cargo and courier operations. Class 8 traffic passes through rather than originates here.
The repair list follows that: liftgates, box bodies and door damage, electrical and charging faults, brakes, hydraulics, tires, and a steady stream of annual inspections.
Stop-start routes and modern diesels
Delivery routes in a dense suburb are the hardest duty cycle a current diesel can be given. Regens do not complete, soot builds, DEF systems fault and the truck derates with almost no miles on it. Clearing the code without addressing the cycle just means it comes back. We will tell you what can actually be changed — route patterns, idle time, a forced regen on a schedule — instead of selling parts twice.
Distance, honestly
Burien is roughly 28 miles from the Tacoma shop — near the edge of our normal range. Scheduled fleet work here makes much more sense than emergency response, and we will always give you a real arrival window rather than an encouraging one.
Is Burien too far for a road call?
No, but it is far enough that you should hear the honest number before we roll. For small jobs on a drivable unit, bringing it to Tacoma is often cheaper than the travel time.
Do you service courier and delivery fleets?
Yes. Medium-duty and van-based fleets are a large part of what we do, and scheduled maintenance on your yard is the arrangement that works best at this distance.
