Mobile diesel mechanic & semi truck repair in University Place, WA

University Place is mostly residential, which means the trucks here are working trucks — delivery, service, construction and municipal fleets rather than over-the-road tractors.

A service fleet town

There is no freight corridor through University Place. What there is: delivery vehicles running the neighbourhoods, contractor and landscaping trucks working the constant residential work, food service and beverage delivery to the Bridgeport Way and 27th Street commercial strips, waste and utility fleets, and the school and municipal equipment that comes with a city of this size.

That is a different repair list than the port generates. More medium-duty, more hydraulics and PTO work, more electrical and lighting, more liftgates and box bodies, and much more scheduled maintenance than emergency work.

Short routes are hard on diesels

A delivery truck that makes forty stops in a day and never sees a highway is running the worst possible cycle for a modern diesel. Regens do not complete, soot accumulates, DEF systems fault, and the truck derates with very low mileage showing. We see this constantly on local fleets and it is usually fixable without replacing expensive parts — but only if somebody looks at the duty cycle rather than just clearing the code.

The same short trips leave batteries chronically undercharged, which is why so many residential-route trucks are dead on the first cold morning of the season.

Eight miles from the shop

University Place is one of our closest areas — about eight miles via SR-16 and Bridgeport Way. For anything drivable, bringing the unit to 1616 E 26th St gets you a better repair on a lift for less than a road call. For anything that will not move, we are there quickly.

Narrow streets and where we can work

Residential streets have parked cars, no shoulders and neighbours. If a truck is down on one, tell us the situation honestly — sometimes the right move is to make it mobile and relocate to a lot a block away rather than to block a street for two hours while we do the job properly.

Do you work on box trucks and liftgates?

Yes. Liftgate hydraulics and electrical, box and roll-up door damage, and body repair are routine — and they are among the most common things that take a delivery truck off a route.

Can you service our fleet at our yard overnight?

For scheduled work on multiple units, that is often the best arrangement — the trucks are not earning anything at night anyway. Talk to us about what you run and we will build a schedule around it.
