Edgewood sits between the Fife tideflats, the Puyallup valley and the Federal Way plateau. Trucks pass through it constantly and very few of them plan to stop there.
A connector town
Edgewood's roads — Meridian, Jovita Boulevard, Edgewood Drive and the connectors to SR-161 and SR-167 — exist to move traffic between bigger places. Trucks use them to get from the valley to the plateau, from Fife to Puyallup, and around congestion on the freeway.
That matters because a truck that breaks down here is usually not local. The driver does not know where the nearest lot is, the dispatcher does not have a yard nearby, and the roads are hilly two-lane with limited places to put a rig. Half of what we do on an Edgewood call is decide where the truck should be before we decide what to fix.
Grades, in both directions
Getting between the valley floor and the Edgewood plateau means a climb, and there are several ways to do it, all of them steeper than the freeway. Loaded trucks that take those connectors find the same faults the SR-410 grade finds — cooling systems that were marginal, belts and fan clutches near the end, and brakes working harder on the way down than they do anywhere on I-5.
Local fleets, quietly
Alongside the through-traffic, Edgewood runs its own equipment: nurseries and landscaping, construction and site work, delivery, and small trucking operations parked on acreage rather than in an industrial park. Those are yard calls and scheduled work, and they are often easier to serve well than the highway jobs.
Getting to you from Tacoma
About 14 miles — up I-5 and across, or out through Puyallup on Meridian. Give us a cross street rather than an address if you can; the road names change and the addresses out here are not always obvious from the road.

We get you safe and visible, then mobile if that is possible, then repaired properly somewhere sane. Finishing a job in a live lane on a hilly two-lane is a bad trade and we will say so.
